What Does a Bucks Night in Melbourne Cost? A Realistic Budget Guide
Quick answer: at Melbourne’s CBD clubs, entry-level group packages are published at $280 to $400 per group. For 10 guests, that’s about $28 to $40 a head for the package alone. Then add entry where it’s extra, drinks, dinner, an activity and the trip home. Ask the venue for an all-in total before you pay a deposit.
The first question every group chat asks is “how much?”, and the best man usually can’t answer it until the night is already booked. This guide sets out what a Melbourne bucks night costs and where the money goes. It uses the actual published prices for group packages at three CBD clubs: Centrefold Lounge (22 King Street), Private Eyes (14 King Street) and The Men’s Gallery (601 Lonsdale Street).
Prices are as published by each venue in October 2026. They can change, so treat this as a planning guide and confirm the total with the venue before you pay anything. All three clubs are strictly 18+.
The five costs in a bucks night
Almost every Melbourne bucks night is made up of the same five costs:
- An activity. Go-karting, golf or similar. See where to go after go-karting and the golf bucks guide.
- Dinner. A group booking in the CBD. Our dinner guide has options.
- Drinks. Before the club and at the club.
- The club. Entry and a group package.
- Getting home. Night Network, rideshare or taxis.
The club is usually the one cost that needs booking, a deposit and a fixed headcount, so it’s where planning matters most.
What club packages cost: published prices
Centrefold Lounge
- Packages: $280, $440, $660 and $890, priced per group, with a minimum of 10 guests.
- The shows: packages are built around 20-minute shows for your group. The number of shows differs by tier, so ask the team what each one includes.
- Booking: a deposit holds the date, and the balance is paid on the night.
- Entry: club entry is extra and isn’t a fixed published price. It varies by day and arrival time. The buck gets in free when the group books a package.
Private Eyes
- Essential, $400: entry for up to 15 guests, a drink card for each guest, a $150 dance card (group show, 1 dancer) and $50 tipping dollars.
- Classic, $850: entry for up to 20 guests, a $500 bar tab, a $300 dance card (2 dancers) and $100 tipping dollars.
- Ultimate, $1,100: entry for up to 25 guests, roped-off reserved seating on the main floor and a $750 bar tab.
Extra guests are $10 each. Packages are paid on arrival.
The Men’s Gallery
- Packages: $300 (one hour, three shows), $460, $660 and $1,290 (two hours, six shows), with a minimum of 10 guests.
- Deposit: a refundable $100 deposit.
- Included: a dedicated function area with a private bar and waitress service, free entry for the guest of honour and discounted group entry before 9pm.
- Build your own: $100 per dancer for a 20-minute Classic show, or $130 for a Duo show, with a minimum of three shows.
Worked example: 10 guests, entry-level packages
Here’s what the entry-level package works out to per person for a group of 10. Read the “not included” column before comparing, because each package covers different things.
| Club and package | Package price | Package share per person (10 guests) | Included | Not included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Centrefold Lounge, $280 package | $280 | $28 | 20-minute shows for the group, and free entry for the buck | Club entry for the other guests (varies), drinks |
| Private Eyes, Essential | $400 | $40 | Entry for up to 15 guests, a drink card each, a $150 dance card, $50 tipping dollars | Further drinks and dances |
| The Men’s Gallery, $300 package | $300 | $30 | One hour, three shows, a function area with bar service, free entry for the guest of honour | Group entry (discounted before 9pm), drinks |
These figures are not like-for-like. One package includes entry and drinks, and the others don’t. The only fair comparison is the total for your group, so ask each venue: “For 10 guests arriving at [time] on [day], what’s the total, including entry?”
Building your per-person budget
Work it out in this order, and write it down for the group chat:
- Club package ÷ headcount. Use the worked example above, then add entry if your package doesn’t include it. Not sure which package suits the crew? See VIP areas and group packages explained.
- Drinks. Decide whether you’re relying on a package’s bar tab or drink cards, or buying rounds. Set a per-person amount you’re comfortable with, and remember the night is long.
- Dances and tips. Optional. If anyone wants extras, budget for them individually. At The Men’s Gallery, private dances start from $50 for 10 minutes.
- Dinner and the activity. Get quotes for your group size when you book.
- Getting home. Budget for rideshare or taxis, or use Night Network on Friday and Saturday nights. After about 1am, trains run from Flinders Street. See our transport guide.
Does the buck pay? Traditionally, no. The group splits his share. At Centrefold Lounge and The Men’s Gallery, his club entry is already covered when the group books a package.
How to keep the cost under control
- Collect the money up front. Set the per-person amount, collect it before the deposit is due and pay the venue from one account. The best man shouldn’t be out of pocket.
- Lock the headcount. Packages often have minimum numbers or caps on included entry. Last-minute additions can add costs, such as $10 per extra guest at Private Eyes.
- Arrive earlier. Entry can depend on arrival time. At The Men’s Gallery, group entry is discounted on bookings before 9pm.
- Pick weeknights for value and space. Fridays and Saturdays book out first. If the group can do a Thursday, ask what’s available.
- Pace the drinks. It’s cheaper, and it keeps the group together. Venues serve under RSA rules, and door staff can refuse entry to anyone who is visibly intoxicated, including the buck. Have a proper feed and drink water between rounds.
